Angry ip scanner vs nmap5/15/2023 To find the other 30% i decided to use nmap to scan for port 9100 since all network printers use this port. This plan work for about 70% of the printers out there, but little did i know how many printers were not on the print server and were bought by individuals or departments with out our knowledge. My plan was to then create reservations on the DHCP server once each printer grabbed a new IP address. I was prepared for this and decided to jump onto the print server and have all the printers mapped via DNS so when the sub net changed and they grabbed new IP address printing to them would be fine. One of the new VLANs created was for printer connections only. Recently my company upgraded all our switches and added redundant layer 3 switches while adding new VLANs and subnets.
